About Jacobs Property Management
Jacobs Property Management is a locally owned Columbia institution that has been part of the fabric of this community for over five decades. We manage a portfolio of scattered site residential rental properties across mid-Missouri and we take genuine pride in doing it well. Our team is close-knit, our standards are high, and we actually care about the people we serve; the property owners who trust us with their investments and the residents who call our properties home. If you're looking for a workplace where your work actually matters, you've found it. We love what we do, and we think it shows.
About the Role
We're looking for someone with sharp communication skills, a genuine enjoyment of working with people, and a knack for staying organized in a fast-moving environment. As our Leasing & Resident Relations Specialist, you'll be the first impression JPM makes on prospective residents, and that matters to us. It's a part-time position, but the impact is full-time. This role covers the full leasing journey from initial inquiry through move-in, the day-to-day support our current residents count on throughout their tenancy, and the move-out process from inspection through deposit reconciliation. If you're someone who takes pride in doing things right and genuinely enjoys working with people, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Maintain clear, professional communication with current and prospective residents
- Post, update, and maintain our online property listings across platforms
- Respond to incoming leads quickly and professionally through our CRM
- Place and remove leasing signs and lockboxes at properties as needed
- Conduct property showings for prospective residents
- Process rental applications and communicate with applicants throughout the approval process
- Prepare, send, and manage lease agreements
- Support residents throughout their tenancy with lease administration, questions, and documentation needs
- Send renewal inquiries to current residents and track responses
- Assist with property checkout inspections at the end of a tenancy
- Assist with the administrative side of security deposit reconciliations
- Pitch in wherever the team needs you. This list is a starting point, not a ceiling.
What We're Looking For
- A clear, confident communicator in writing, on the phone, and in person
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities without missing a beat
- Self-motivated and comfortable owning your work without constant direction
- Warm, professional, and someone who genuinely enjoys helping people
- Tech comfortable and eager to learn new software and systems
- A valid driver's license is required. We provide a company vehicle for property-related tasks.
- Prior experience in property management, real estate, or customer service is great, but not required. We hire for character and invest in the right people.
Compensation
$18.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience
Benefits
As a part-time role, this position does not include a benefits package. What it does include is a supportive, close-knit team that shows up for each other, a workplace where your contributions are noticed and appreciated, and the satisfaction of doing work that genuinely makes a difference in people's lives every day.
